A Community Conversation for Change

Each year, more than 7,000 women in Franklin County are physically assaulted by a current or former partner.

The Center for Family Safety and Healing invites you to join a dynamic conversation about domestic violence intervention and prevention. Through this moderated discussion, we will explore the scope and effects of domestic violence on our communities and the importance of survivor-centered advocacy. Speakers will also discuss evidence-based practices for preventing domestic violence homicides and strategies to work with diverse communities.

Panel Experts:
Kit Gruelle: Producer, Private Violence; Consultant and law enforcement trainer; Survivor of domestic violence and longtime advocate for battered women and their children
Karma Cottman: Executive Director, DC Coalition Against Domestic Violence; Ujima, Inc.: The National Center on Violence Against Women in the Black Community, a national, culturally-specific issue resource center that provides support to and serves as a voice for the Black Community in response to domestic, sexual and community violence
Jacquelyn Campbell, PhD, RN, FAAN: Creator of the Danger Assessment; Foremost national and international expert on homicide reduction; Anna D. Wolf Chair, The Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing; National Program Director, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Nurse Faculty Scholars
