OVWA is proud to bring you "Empowered Resiliency: Individual and Agency Focused Trauma-Responsive Care". This training initiative is for the following professions:

  • Community-based and Systems-based crime victim advocates
  • Attorneys working with victims of crime
  • Mental Health Professionals working with victims of crime
  • Organizational Leadership of victim service agencies

This five region initiative across Ohio seeks to bring together advocates and allied professionals of all disciplines to learn:

  • The difference between trauma-informed and trauma-responsive care
  • Practical and applicable trauma-responsive information, practices and protocols
  • Methods of implementation with both individual trauma victims and agency staff
  • How direct service agencies can become trauma-responsive to staff needs

Advocates who thoroughly understand trauma-responsive care, understand the path to healing, and recognize the signs and symptoms of trauma, can then bring a victim-centered approach to their work by integrating trauma-informed principles, policies, and procedures.

OVWA is proud to have the following trauma-responsive experts at the Central Ohio Regional Training:

  • Janice Sowell, LPC

    Trauma Recovery Center
